Q: What is the difference between the Advantage Series & the other wood shutters on your site?
A: The Advantage Series shutters are a production driven product line made of basswood. Shutter thickness is 1 1/16” with 2 ½”, 3 ½” and 4 ½” plantation style louver options.

Q: What is the difference between standard and custom shutters?

Standard Panels
Custom Panels
Ordered as single panels only. Available on 1/8” increments in width & height. Can be ordered as single panels or multiple-panel openings. Available on 1/16” increments in width & height.
Square edge panels only. On multiple-panel openings, rabbeted overlaps are available for an extra charge.
Hardware is available for an extra charge. Hanging hinges must be mortised on site. Hinges & magnetic catches are included in custom pricing. Hanging hinges are mortised.
You must figure all allowances for clearance & hardware and order individual panel sizes. Summit Hill will make allowances for clearance & hardware when given the opening size.
Not all designs are available on standard panels. All designs are available on custom panels.
Standard paint grade & stain grade woods only. Standard and custom woods available.
Rail sizes, stile widths and divider rail placements will be per our standard specifications and cannot be adjusted. Panels of similar heights may have different louver counts. Summit Hill will match your requested divider rail placements, rail sizes and stile widths as close as possible. You may request panels of similar heights to have same louver count. We will adjust rail sizes on double hung shutters for proportion.

Square/rectangular form only. Available as square/rectangular, arch top, rake top, circle, oval and other forms.
Mitering is not available on framing. Framing can be mitered upon your request for an extra charge.

Q: What is your warranty?
A: We have a limited lifetime warranty.

Q: What are your payment terms?   
A: All orders require a deposit with the balance due before the order ships.

Q: What types of payment do you accept?   
A: You may now fax or e-mail a copy of your deposit check instead of having to mail it.

Q: How are shipping charges calculated?
A: Shipping charges are calculated per order and are based on the weight of the shipment and the ship-to location.

Q: Do you ship outside the U.S.?   
A: Yes. Please contact us for additional information.

Q: What type of wood are your shutters made of?
A: Our shutters are made out of solid paint grade or stain grade poplar. We are also able to manufacture shutters out of most woods on the market. Contact Summit Hill.

Q: Where are your shutters made? 
A: All of our products are proudly made in the USA

Q: Do you have a rush service available?
A: A rush service is available on some of our products. Please contact us for additional information.

Q: Can I cancel or change an order?
A: Since all our products are custom-made to your specifications, orders are non-cancelable and changes will either be costly or impossible.

Q: Can I return your product?   
A: Since orders are made to your exact specifications, they are not returnable.

Q: What if I don’t see what I’m looking for?
A: Custom work is available. Send us your specifications.

Q: What if my order is damaged in shipping?  
A: Upon receipt, carefully examine the carton(s). Do not sign for a shipment in damaged condition without notification of damage on delivery receipt. You must contact the carrier or UPS immediately to arrange inspection of the damage. Do not remove merchandise from carton until inspection has been made. If carton appears undamaged, open immediately to inspect merchandise. Even though there is no visible damage to the carton, there is the possibility of concealed damage. If concealed damage is found, you must contact the carrier or UPS the same day of delivery or the following day to arrange inspection. If carrier or UPS is not notified within this time period, the carrier or UPS may not honor the claim. KEEP ALL DAMAGED MERCHANDISE IN ITS ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIAL. Freight claims for damaged merchandise must be filed by consignee. Summit Hill files claims for UPS shipments only.

Q: What is your production time?   
A: Production times will vary depending on the product, wood type and finish. Some unfinished shutters can be made in as little as 1 week. Shutters made of a custom wood with a custom finish can take over 8 weeks.

Q: Are color samples available?
A: Yes. Each of our lines has different standard colors. Please call Summit Hill for details.

Q: Do you have installers?   
A: We do not have installers outside the state of Minnesota. We recommend finding someone in your area with carpentry skills.

Q: Does my order ship complete?  
A: All orders ship complete.

Q: What if there is a discrepancy or defect on my product?   
A: All claims for incorrect or defective merchandise must be made within 30 days of receipt of merchandise. Any defect in the order must be brought to our attention before shutters are altered in any manner or installation is attempted. Estimates for local repairs must be received in writing by Summit Hill no later than 30 days from receipt of merchandise. All estimates must be accompanied by photographs and explanation of problem. Estimates will be accepted or rejected by Summit Hill within 5 days from receipt of letter and photos. Repair estimates must be authorized by Summit Hill in writing before any repairs are begun.
