No one likes the idea of being a victim. And despite the fact a great majority of crimes can be easily prevented by the victim taking the proper precautions, hundreds of thousands are victimized each and every year. Being proactive and showing initiative when it comes to protecting you and your family is the best ways you can ever falling victim to a criminal.
There are an alarming number of peeping-tom arrests every year. There are also a staggering number of burglaries in our country on an annual basis. Amazingly, 30% of entries through such openings as a window were gained without using any force whatsoever. And 28% of the time a home is burglarized, a resident is home. And 25% of the time a member of the household is home, the burglary becomes violent.
Shutters and blinds can protect you, your family and your home from such offenses as these. Obviously obscuring the view of any potential peeping-tom offenders is as easy as twisting your shutters closed. Obviously this won’t prevent the offender from wandering into some else’s yard to try and catch an eye full, but it will protect you and yours.
So if you ever have that feeling you’re being watched, simply walk over to your shutters and close them. And if you don’t have a set, it may be time to consider investing in one. Shutters can similarly deter burglary, one of the most common types of crimes across the US.
Burglars and home invaders prefer to stakeout potential victims’ homes before following through with any attempt on breaking and entering. Being able to see into the prospective home lets the perpetrators confirm any potential issues which might await them. This includes such liabilities to their operations as a dog, the residents’ schedules and whether or not there’s anything worth stealing. If you eliminate the ability to see inside, it disrupts their modus operandi and 9 out of 10 will move onto a different house.
